Con l’uscita di scena del telaio 277 andato distrutto nel GP di Ungheria a causa del terribile incidente occorso a Massa, la Ferrari allestì un nuovo esemplare, con telaio n. 280. Dapprima fu affidato a Badoer che girò in pista a Fiorano per prendere confidenza con la monoposto ad agosto, prima del GP che si disputò a Valencia, a partire dal GP di Italia fu poi affidato alla guida di Fisichella. 

With the retirement of chassis 277, which was destroyed in the Hungarian Grand Prix due to the terrible accident involving Massa, Ferrari built a new chassis, numbered 280. Initially, it was assigned to Badoer, who drove it at Fiorano to get familiar with the car in August, before the Grand Prix in Valencia. Starting from the Italian Grand Prix, it was then handed over to Fisichella.

In Belgio, le telecamere sul muso furono spostate in posizione leggermente più arretrata per convogliare meglio l’aria verso la parte centrale della monoposto. 

In Belgium, the cameras on the nose were repositioned slightly further back to better channel air toward the central part of the car.

Nell’ultimo GP della stagione la Ferrari portò piccoli aggiornamenti soprattutto per far fronte alle temperature elevate. In quest’occasione furono aperte diverse feritoie, in particolare comparirono due piccoli sfoghi d’aria orizzontali nella parte bassa delle fiancate. 

In the last Grand Prix of the season, Ferrari introduced small updates, mainly to cope with high temperatures. On this occasion, several slits were opened, particularly with the addition of two small horizontal air outlets in the lower part of the sidepods.
